International Men’s Day, November 19: Honoring and Sharing

Wednesday, 19/11/2025, 16:00

November 19 each year is recognized as International Men’s Day – a global event that honors the contributions of men across all areas of life. This day is not intended as an opposition to International Women’s Day on March 8, but rather serves as a reminder of gender balance, mental health, and social responsibility.

Origin and Meaning

International Men’s Day was initiated by Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh in 1999 in Trinidad and Tobago, choosing his father’s birthday as a milestone to pay tribute.

Main Objectives:
• Raise awareness about men’s and boys’ health.
• Promote gender equality and improve relations between genders.
• Honor the role of fathers, protectors, and companions within the family and society.

Global Theme for 2025

This year’s chosen theme is “Celebrating Men and Boys.” This affirms that men’s contributions are not only reflected in great achievements but also in silent actions: caring for families, nurturing children, and supporting communities..

Significance for Ojitex

• Honoring male employees: This is an opportunity for the company to recognize the efforts of male colleagues in their work.
• Encouraging work-life balance: A reminder of the importance of mental health and sharing family responsibilities.
• Promoting a culture of equality: Creating a workplace where all genders are respected and supported.

Conclusion

International Men’s Day on November 19 is an opportunity for us to understand, share, and accompany men on the journey to building a fair, happy, and sustainable society.
